Objectives & Structure:
Open site with interactive sections that allow detailed exploration of historical topics illustrated by Luttrell Psalter. The site would allow teachers opportunities to add historical context to the art work or link art and history in the curriculum. Students could access the site directly and study the art work in some detail through the illustrations chosen.

Description of contents:
Excellent illustrations from the Luttrell Psalter in sections on ‘The Death of Thomas Becket’, ‘Medieval Patterns’ and ‘Medieval Women’.

Evaluation and Comments:

Description of how the website can be used with the students::
The site could provide a basis for discussion; material for research; motivation; and opportunities for both autonomous learning and group learning.
The topics illustrated are particularly appropriate and of interest to secondary students.
There are examples of medieval pattern making that could link directly with other historical examples across Europe and within UK (eg William Morris) and also to a student’s own practical work.

Comments::
This is an excellent, high quality resource for schools and would work well in tandem with the other British Library site – www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/ttp – which allows further interactive examination of the Luttrell Psalter. (see separate evaluation review)
