Da Maria-Sybilla Merian als eine der ersten Frauen als Naturwissenschaftlerin tätig war beschäftigt sich die Quelle auch hiermit. Des weiteren werden nicht nur Maria-Sybilla Merian sondern auch ihre Töchter "vorgestellt", da es vorwiegend diesen zu verdanken ist, dass das Werk ihrer Mutter Verbreitung fand und erwähnt wurde.
