Description of contents:
The large fresco on the staircase vault in the Würzburg Residence is the masterpiece of the Venetian G. B. Tiepolo, one of the most famous painters of the 18th century. This enormous work of art as well as Tiepolo’s frescoes in the Imperial Hall of the palace are in urgent need of conservation and restoration. In 2003, 250 years after its completion and 55 years after its last restoration, conservation work is beginning on the fresco in the staircase.
