This is a site produced for a major exhibition of Hogarth’s work in 2007. It is an excellent, simple and useful introductory site that is easy to use and open to general public. There is a brief introduction to Hogarth and then a series of clickable options which expand the information available.
Description of contents:
The brief clear introduction explains the exhibition but also outlines Hogarth’s work and importance.
Clickable sections include:
• “The Modern Moral Series” where you can view detail of all Hogarth’s series
• “Events and Education” where you can download some excellent and very thorough teacher’s notes which provide good starting points for class discussion
• “Hogarth’s London” is an interactive site that allows you to find out more about key features of London in the 18th century and place Hogarth’s work in an historical context
• “Further Resources”
